RELIGIOUS FREEDOM FOR THE GOOD OF ALL
Beginning June 22, the Feast of Saints Thomas More and John Fisher, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops celebrates Religious Freedom Week. Join us in promoting religious freedom For the Good of All.: www.usccb.org/ReligiousFreedomWeek
All people desire to know their Creator. All people have a natural impulse to seek the good and to live in accordance with that good. All people can flourish when they pursue the truth about God and respond to the truth. Religious freedom means that all people have the space to flourish. Religious freedom is both an American value and an important part of Catholic teaching on human dignity. When we promote religious freedom, we promote the common good and thus strengthen the life of our nation and the community of nations. A PRAYER FOR PROTECTION IN TIME OF PANDEMIC
O Mary, you always brighten our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, took part in Jesus’ pain while remaining steadfast in faith. O loving mother, you know what we need, and we are confident you will provide for us as at Cana in Galilee. Intercede for us with your Son Jesus, the Divine Physician, for those who have fallen ill, for those who are vulnerable, and for those who have died. Intercede also for those charged with protecting the health and safety of others and for those who are tending to the sick and seeking a cure. Help us, O Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who took upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows, so as to lead us, through the Cross, to the glory of the Resurrection. Amen.
Under thy protection, we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God. In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.
Adapted from the prayer of Pope Francis
PRAYER TO CARE FOR OUR COMMON HOME
Father of all, Creator and ruler of the universe, You entrusted your world to us as a gift. Help us to care for it and all people, that we may live in a right relationship– with You, with ourselves, with one another, and with creation.
Christ our Lord, both divine and human, You lived among us and died for our sins. Help us to imitate your love for the human family by recognizing that we are all connected— to our brothers and sisters around the world, to those in poverty impacted by environmental devastation, and to future generations.
Holy Spirit, giver of wisdom and love, You breathe life in us and guide us. Help us to live according to your vision, stirring to action the hearts of all—
individuals and families, communities of faith, and civil and political leaders.
Triune God, help us to hear the cry of those in poverty, and the cry of the earth, so that we may together care for our common home. Amen.
This prayer from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is based on Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’: On Care for Our Common Home
POPE FRANCIS’ PRAYER INTENTION FOR JUNE 2020 – The Way of the Heart
We pray that all those who suffer may find their way in life, allowing themselves to be touched by the Heart of Jesus.
CONGRATULATIONS TO JIM MANN: Our Business Manager Jim Mann is Retiring
Please see a note from Jim below.
Dear Saint Lawrence.
It has been a wonderful 10 years working here and serving this parish community. I am leaving for retirement as of July 31, 2020. I am sad to leave wonderful co-workers, but I’m leaving because I’m in good health, as is your Parish.
It has been wonderful to be a part of the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Commission along with the Stewardship Commission. I am excited to see a new ministry grow that will be providing a video stream to your homes or when you are traveling. Your wonderful parish staff, school staff, and volunteers care a great deal about all of you and always seek to be of service to you.
My plans are to travel across the United States to see family. I have brothers and sisters from California to Rhode Island, Minnesota to Florida.
God Bless all of you, thank you for taking me into your parish.
